Works great and has a large capacity. I love it!
(All metal inside is what I always wanted for health reasons, so it is exactly what I wanted) |
Okay for Tea Drinker

I looked at many electric tea kettles before purchasing this one. My intention was to find a fast way to brew tea without using my gas stove. I also wanted to avoid plastic, and this was attractive because the pot is stainless and the heat element is under the stainless and doesn't come in direct contact with the water. Alas the water level is plastic, too bad, could easily do without that level if there were level lines inside the pot.
Another reason I selected this was the possibility of making tea IN the pot, alas this is not the case. But the description of the mesh filter is a little misleading. The kettle cannot be used with loose tea. The point of the filter is to prevent any calcium deposits from pouring out with the water, but this isn't really necessary if you clean the pot as recommended. The filter is a little plastic one that slides into a slot inside where the spout hole is. The filter is removable though, and isn't needed to heat water.
On the plus side, the water heats fast. The directions say to boil water and throw out the first 2-3 kettles full plus rinse 2-3 more times. I did this and had to throw out the next kettle full because there was a strong unpleasant taste. After 4 boils though, the taste is gone.
When full, the kettle is heavy. If your hands are not strong, a shorter and wider pot rather than this tall one might be easier to lift and pour.
Heat element shuts off quickly, and the pot heats fast. Takes some getting used to, if you are accustomed to waiting awhile for your water to boil, you'll have to move more quickly because the water is boiled and done and the pot is off in no time.
Looks nice on the counter and the heat element is a round glass stand.
Great, will use and enjoy, but still am looking for the perfect tea kettle, preferably not made in China.

looks good BUT ........

| Looks good BUT the lid is very difficult to get on and off, there is no light to indicate the kettle is on, and it is difficult to tell when the automatic switch has switched the kettle off. If it had a light then the light could switch off, or it could make a loud 'click' sound as the switch turned off. |
A great kettle for a good price

I purchased this to put on my desk at work so I didn't have to keep heating up water in a communal microwave in order to make tea. It's a tad slow to boil and the cord is a little short, but aside from that it's very nice. The flavor of the water is great (even cold), and, unless you have a hard time carrying a gallon of milk, it's not too heavy even when full. It does get very hot, being metal and not insulated, but if you keep it out of the way, it's not a problem. Remember that the spout allow copious amounts of steam into the air, so you don't want to point it at anything that can be easily damaged by that.
Overall, great for adults, but should be kept out of children's reach. A good buy. |
Overall good value...but lacks one feature

| Kettle surface stays clean and high volume is a bonus. Protected element is essential for the water we have to prevent scaling. Does not have a light to indicate when on so you can't be across the room to see when it is done. Otherwise good buy. |
EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR

| HAVE BEEN USING THIS FOR A MONTH NOW AND I LOVE IT! IT WAS BOUGHT AS A REPLACEMENT FOR A CUSINART CORDLESS THAN FINALLY BLEW UP AFTER 7 YEARS FAITHFUL SERVICE. SO FAR SO GOOD. IT IS AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID. EASY TO USE, POURS WELL AND LOOKS MODERN AND STYLISH ON THE COUNTER TOP. IT WILL BOIL A MINIMUM OF .5 A LTR IF MAKING SMALL POT OF ASIAN TEA OR UP TO 1.7 LTRS. I CAN CERTAINLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. I HOPE THAT IT PROVES TO BE DURABLE ..... I WOULD BE DISAPPOINTED TO BE WITHOUT IT NOW. |
Two things to make it great

This electric tea kettle is very classy looking and works very well. Two things would make it better:-1.a light to tell it is on. 2. the lid is extremely tight and the handle difficult to grasp. We loosened the lid and it helps a lot.
Did a man design this?? |
Works well, some design flaws

This pot heats water quickly and is easy to pour; you don't have to fuss with trying to align it on the base.
Downside: lid is a little awkward to remove and replace (would have been better to hinge it) and the exterior of the pot and lid become quite hot to the touch.
For the price, and compared to others I've had in the same price range, a pretty good kettle. |
Great idea poor durability

| I love my hot pot...I boil water every morning to use in my French Press. It brings water to a boil much faster that the stovetop teapot BUT over time Hamilton Beach Teakettle leaks and gets worse each day. At first it was just a little leak at the bottom seal. Then the plastic gage window started to leak. Now, both leaks spread water all over my counter top if there is any water left between uses. Not a good design. I am ordering a new one but trying a different brand. |

It's not the best teakettle for sure.
It's too loud and doesn't have indicator light showing whether it's on or off.
I can't say I am pleased much with it. |
Works great until it starts to leak

| We used it for about 3 years before the window began to leak water through it. Needs redesign if they want it to last longer. |
Poor quality, dangerous appliance

| A very poorly designed kettle - it started to leak in just one year. The windows on the side began to separate from the body. The problem became so acute that water leaked down the side toward the base. On one occasion, I went to pick it up and was given an electric shock. I strongly advise against purchasing this very poor product. |
Shoddy workmanship...Don't buy this item!

This is the first review I have given on this site mainly because I have been pleased with my purchases thus far. I have been buying from Amazon for years.
I bought this kettle because I liked the design and the reviews, for the most part were positive overall.
This kettle is noisy but that's the least of it's problems - the handle came away from the body the first day! It is attached at the top so when I pick it up I have to hold bottom under the spout and be careful not to burn myself.
My fault because I didn't send it back or complain at the time. (i had already recycled the box) I very rarely return items unless they are expensive.
My other complaint is that it is slower than other electric kettles I have owned. Be warned! Shoddy workmanship...

Wish I received it.....

| Use extreme caution when ordering from Today's Concept....wish I checked the non-Amazon reviews. This item is still showing in stock but I have been told that they don't have it nor will they. Ordered close to a month ago and was shipped the wrong item. Returned it and was promised the correct item....that never showed up. Called again and was promised that it would be over-nighted to me...another empty promise. Nearly a month later and repeated phone calls one CSR actually said that they would resubmit the order but chances are I would get the wrong product again. When I questioned him about that insane statement I was told that the product was not in stock and they ship out substitutes (without permission). Absolutely ridiculous! Needless to say I asked for a refund which I have no faith in actually going through. Next step - call my bank and reverse the charge. Stay clear! |
Not worth it!

| Within 3 weeks of purchasing this tea kettle it broke completely, and stopped working for no reason. Bad workmanship and not reliable - I would steer clear of this one. It may look great but it's not worth the money. |
Bad, bad, bad

| This tea kettle was a huge disappointment for me. First of all, it leaked. Secondly, my intention in getting a tea pot such as this was to have a constant supply of hot water in my office for tea. Once you push the lever down to heat the water, it makes a huge loud noise. It does heat the water rather quickly, but self-shuts off. When you're ready to pour water for a 2nd cup of tea, the water has cooled off and you have to endure the loud noise again and wait. Didn't meet my needs in this area. Then to top it all off, after 2 months the kettle broke and doesn't heat water at all!! Bad choice, save your money and time. |
